ABOUT THE MAGAZINE

Q. WHAT IS STEAM RAILWAY MAGAZINE?

A. Steam Railway is 100% steam - no diesels, no electrics, just steam. This is a magazine written by enthusiasts. We only cover what matters to you and we tell the stories behind the headlines. You won't find news simply taken off the internet and we always tell it like it is.

Steam Railway has been the voice of the railway preservation movement for 35 years. It's 100% steam - there's no talk of diesels, electrics or High Speed 2 in this magazine, which is read and valued by managers and decision makers as well as enthusiasts. Whether it's happening on the main line or on preserved railways, this news, written by some of the most respected journalists in the industry, is backed up by stunning photography from equally well-respected lensmen.

Every issue contains a wide variety of informative and probing features that get to the heart of the present day steam scene, together with historical and archive material that makes Steam Railway a magazine you'll want to keep and refer back to again and again. Inside you'll also find our one-stop guide to forthcoming steam events, galas and main line railtours, along with reviews of the latest railway books and visual media. If you're interested in steam on the railways, you only need Steam Railway. - Howard Johnston, Editor
